The NW Chapter meeting is this Thursday August 10, 6 pm at the Twin City Sportsman's Club. One of the major topics this month will be the new Fir Island Snow Goose hunting regulation and where this regulation may be heading if we, as hunters, don't get careful about how we hunt on Fir Island. Join the members for a round of trap and some good discussion regarding the upcoming duck season (only 2 months away).
The NW Chapter will have a Spartina pulling work party in coordination with The Nature Conservance on August 26th. Contact the NW Chapter of WWA for more information. And look for an announcement for a bridge replacement work party on the Farmed Island in the very near future.
The Whatcom chapter has their annual Turkey Shoot this coming Saturday. This is also the combined NW Chapter and Whatcom Chapter hunting gear swap meet so you can head up and set up a table to sell your old gear. The "Turkey Shoot" is at the Lynden Gun Club at the corner of W. Badger Rd and Weidkamp Rd. Take the Hwy 539 exit off I-5 at Bellingham and head North toward Lynden. After crossing Wiser Lake, the third set of traffic lights after this is Badger RD. Turn left and go approximately 2 miles to Weidkamp and turn left. You will see the range on your left as you turn. If you get lost, the Gun Club number is 360-354-2331. Starting time is 1000. Contact Randy Johnson (RanJenJohnson@aol.com) for more information.
The SW Chapter has their Yakama Indian Reservation Bird Banding work party this weekend. Mark Hansen & Pat Shearer have done some work on our behalf to set-up the work party with the Yakama Nation's Biologist Tracy Hames. This not only gives the parents an opportunity to do some hands-on work banding upland birds & waterfowl; but it is an excellent experience for the kids. Camping is available at the Yakama's campground in Toppenish....and they usually give us a discount for participating in the work party. Contact Jim Cortines (email@example.com) for more information.
