"Murder, Inc." ... BBBD's Diver Slayin Beast!

Postby BigBlondeBirdDog » Sat Sep 07, 2013 8:37 pm

Sooooooooo, I'm gonna throw an update out there, tooooooo alllllll the other updates I've wrote about. "Murder, Inc." started out 2yrs ago, as an old beaten down Fiberform with an 85hp Merc on her asssssss end. She was white w/ a black stripe, and all the seats in her were rotten.

Sooooooo without further slacken, ... Pic's a comin!

Here she was when I purchased her and the trailer for $250
Image

Ripped her seats out
Image

Here is where the magic starts
Image

BAMMMMM ! Open water blind doors, courtesy of SHADE!
Image

Little paint job! Plus the cargo net attached to the front side for storage. Fog lights on and ready to go.
Image

Little touch up, here and there. All 12v plug-in's, ... wiring 75% complete.
Image

Threw her name on ...
Image

MAIDEN VOYAGE!
Image

Would like to thank Shade for the help on the blind doors, and a sound board for my whacky ideas, ... (BTW, still owe you $70, I'm aware and feel like a schit for being in the red on that!) Tealer for all his boat knowledge, and once again, sounding board. WaMuley for ideas and a blueprint of his boat to go off of. Columbia Basin Local for helping me figure out what works and what don't, along with coming to the house to double check my progress!

Have 30 days to close the deal on her, but she's water worthy as she sits right now!

Looks good. You need one more piece for the front. A cross section that can be removed and installed prior to the hunt. It will pay off down the road. Similar to what the TDB, Bankes, Duckwaters, etc. do.

That's a solid build. Should live up to its name. I might suggest side bunks for the trailer though. Trying to load a boat straight with no side guides can be pain. Trying to straighten a boat on the trailer after you pull it up the ramp and realize the error of your ways, is near impossible. Just speaking from experience...

No thanks neccesary! She is looking really good buddy. I really like the cargo net idea, and the blind doors look even better than I expected! The extra paint to match the boat is PERFECT. You have to fill up the 'built-in-decoy-bags' with Reds and GE and then get a pic with doors up and another with doors open and the post them up! Oh, and one with Gauge too!

No worries on the $$ right now.... Just try and hook me up before season so I can buy my case of shells.

Wow, that boat, with trailer and motor, was a steal for 250 bucks. Did you find it on craigslist? I've been looking for another boat I could fix up and use as my "big lake/ocean" hunting boat.

There is nothing exciting about working on a boat, it's just potental money pit. Also, don't forget the plug.

Cantshootwell, ... Yeah, the guy lived in an apartment, and the landlord was going to start charging him "space rent" for the boat at $45 a month, ... When I saw the ad, it was listed for $400, ... after 2 months of not selling, and paying lot rent on it ... $250 sounded like a good deal to him. The motor needed some work at the time, but it was going to be HIS project boat ... so he also threw in a 80hp Red Thunderbolt as a parts motor, 2 spare prop's ... Basically, the guy was dumping it.

Shade, ... Will do on the pics, but have found that the one side may work better at storing the oars, decoy pole and fishing net to get them completely out of the way of everything, rather than hold just 12-16 deek's. I figured that if I add another cargo net for dual support on the front.

bknilvr00, ... Thinking that I'm gonna build or add on to the trailer, but whole lotta OTHER things that I gotta get to first to get her at least on the water for season.

And whoever said that boats were fun and needed a hobby .... Good GAWD, ... Knowing what I know now ... Yeah, ... I'd like to spend all that money that I spent of the boat getting it to this point, ... take that money and go to Argentina shooting silver teal or Eider's in Maine or Alaska.

Oooooooo well, ... I'm married to the boat now.

BBBD. You know that boats are never ending holes in the water in which to dump money don't you? That being said, I had to sell mine a couple of years ago and damn I miss that thing. Your rig looks like a perfect brant boat for Padilla Bay.

: Well, remember when the kids got their learners permit, or maybe when we ourselves got our learners permit to drive a car, ... What did everyone say?

"Stay off the roads, so - an - so got their permit!"

Gent's, it's that time again to give everyone a heads up ... "Stay the heeeeellllllllllllllllllll off the Columbia!"

After spending 4hrs of my life that I'll never get back, on a Sat night none-the-less, .... I passed my WA Boaters Safety Course with a 93%. Printed out the temp card off the email I was sent, with the real card coming in 4-6 weeks. I'm now LEGIT folks.

Hooked up my running lights yesterday ... and it was only 2 sets. Lit up the street like the Vegas strip! I still have one more set for the front to run. 3 per side. Running 2 batteries, only one doing lights, so hooking up a plug in style for the second ... first battery has a charger off the motor

Took CBL and his boy out today, ran her for 20-30min, no issues ... then seemed I lost some HP but she still chugged along. Thinking I either had some bad gas, or made the mixture to rich. Got back to the dock fine, seemed it was under half power, but wasnt ... buddy is comin over tomm to have a look.

More updates to come

It probably wouldn't hurt to replace the carb seals, put in a new fuel filter, and replace the spark plugs.

If you mounted a couple of punt guns facing forward it would really look like a PT boat.
