Kcidkcus,

Call your congressional representative! TONIGHT! RIGHT NOW!

Express your views! Your educated opinion!

Make sure he/she understands that because of Obamacare, 90% of your RECREATIONAL, duck hunting hunting spots will be closed this season.

Then take a comfortable seat and wait.

Your local rep (if you live in Eastern Washington, that is) may (or may not) have one of their interns call you to explain that they have higher priorities, like addressing the concerns of one (or more) of their constituents who are about to go on furlough, and not get a pay check until this situation is resolved.

Take a seat, 'cause it will take a while before your congressperson responds.

In the meantime, read a little while you are at it. It will do you good!

Investigate what happened when we had the last shutdown (and how history repeats itself). Point no fingers to Dems or Reps. Just look at the consequences, and figure out what is going to happen to YOUR political party.

It will do you good.

Almost all of my hunting occurs on lake rosevelt (part of the Columbia river) it is national recreation land and is run by the national park service. Here's the kicker here... It's not that they own the lake (even though they might idk) they own all the land , shoreline and stuff around the lake not just 100 ft around but ALOT of land around it. They own the land around the whole lake except where it borders the Reservations land, so there is NO possible way to get to the lake, except through a reservation. And now that the park is "shutdown" idk what the actual fines are but it's basically trespassing or breaking and entering on federal property so a felony charge at minimum... And the way the park service is here I'm not taking any chances what so ever (They shot a guy up here about a week or so ago). It's a big deal in my area cause a lot of folks have boats and stuff along the shore that all has to be packed out untill the shutdown is over. It totally blows....

If you have a boat go out and hunt it. The State owns the waters and the land to mean high water and it is regulated by the state. Launch the boat at the reservation and hunt from the boat on anchor. The fed can't say spit to you about it. They don't own the water or the river bottom in Washington State.

Make a few calls and confirm this with your local Game Wardens, and get the pertinent laws / regulations either from them or look them up online. Have them in the boat with you and tell the Federal Wardens you know the law, show them the docs and then politely go back to hunting.

I'm not sure you are correct about history repeating itself here Triggerman, I guess we'll all have to wait and see.
Obama is not concerned about his run in 2016 like Clinton was the first time around. He is working on his "legacy" and doesn't have much motivation to negotiate.

With approximately 50% of US citizens not paying taxes and more illegals than ever (some may vote idk?) I don't think the current economy is enough to spur those people who are currently getting a free ride to support another Republican revolution. After all Republicans say you should pay your own way and work hard for what you want. At least that's what they say, I don't know if they really believe it.

I don't see another Newt Gingrich currently. Like him or hate him, the guy clearly was very driven, intelligent and cunning. I'm not sure there is currently someone out there that can fill his shoes to ensure history repeats itself once again.

Either way, I'm going to be killing ducks in Alberta soon and I hope this mess is settled by the time I get back.

Let us not forget the only office with the power to close and deny access to all our fed. land, parks and monuments is the president of the U.S.A . Please think on that.

This has little to nothing to do with Congress. Our pissy little pres is throwing a fit because America hates the one thing he did in his presidency. He is doing everything he can to keep his socialist agenda alive as a lame duck president. His sorry azz needs to go back to Kenya and screw that country up instead. Remember who is sticking it to you next election. They all have a big D behind their names.

Here's a little different perspective.

Obamacare is not directly tied to this continuing resolution in any way. It is a separate piece of legislation, already passed and signed into law back in 2010. The House Republicans are just saying, "We don't like this law, Obamacare, that was already passed, and because we do not have the votes to repeal it in the manner laid out in the Constitution" -- they don't; they've already tried to repeal it 42 times, yes, that is true, 42 times -- "we're going to instead DEMAND that the law be repealed or delayed, or else we won't pass a 'clean' continuing resolution, without any of the stuff about Obamacare, necessary to keep the country running."

As for the debt ceiling, Congress authorizes spending, NOT the president. Raising the debt ceiling does NOT authorize more spending. It pays the bills Congress has already authorized.

Nice try fishy. Your liberal democrats are spending this country into the poorhouse. The republicans are withholding funding for a bloated piece of socialist, social engineering. There is nothing unconstitional about their actions. The Senate should sign off on it and let bo decide whether his legacy is worth crippling the economy further.

Bo is the worst president since jimmy carter. The american people don't want this socialist program, why do you blame the house when the senate and the executive Branch are the ones ignoring the will of the people?

BBduck, Well then I guess the facts don't mean a thing.

No one said they were acting unconstitutionally, but they are trying to create a very dangerous precedent, ( don't like legislation that the other party gets passed, put the country into default, wreck havoc on its credit rating and hold government entities hostage until the other party agrees to de-fund the legislation that has already become law.)

Pretty much akin to throwing a temper tantrum in the cereal isle!

If the cool-aid is what it takes to get the people who use suport, carefor, and about our natural resources to stand up and say no to a bully trying to lock us out then give me double. Because it's just wrong.

If the senate dems would do their job and submit an actual budget (They haven't done that since 2007) then these ridiculous annual funding and debt fights wouldn't be occurring. And they won't submit a budget because the sheeple would actually see what that stupid legislation costs the taxpayers.

Well, simply put, when the government re-opens, those of use that are exempt from the furlough will be paided for the time we worked. People that actually had to go home will be paid if congress votes to pay them for that time not worked.

Nope, just thought I would throw some insight into how things actually work and what the two party's are fighting about, but I can see things are just as contentious here as they are in DC.

Course I could just jump on the band wagon and slurp the kook-aid that either party is serving without using my cognitive prowess to determine what BS they are feeding me, but I prefer to do things differently.
