Saturday morning reports from the field.

Postby bknilvr00 » Sat Oct 19, 2013 7:04 am

Just set the dekes and sittin in the layouts. Had cougar knocking in my door before I was even out of bed. Ran around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get loaded. Got to the ramp first which was a surprise. Now we are sitting here in our marsh boats waiting for shooting light. And listening to the knuckle heads across the marsh bang their decoys around.... Fun fun.

Good luck! Wish I was out there. Ditch chickens for me today. Just getting up now.

Ugh. After a less than stellar opener, I had to choose between spending the day with my 17 yr old daughter shopping for a homecoming dress and heading out. She won. Still looking for that "1st limit day". Hunt safe guys.

Wishing I was hunting, but sitting at Seatac waiting for my flight to Denver. Then off to Ohio next week for some fun.
Cut Um!
Real ducks don't have a competition sequence they follow! Hint, hint!

I have had some of my best naps even in my lay out blind. :lol3:

This is the only way I can get more ducks than him. Wake him up to me shooting.
Nothing better than some hot coffee while sitting and waiting for the birds to come in at first light.

Yeah, I'd have to rank them this way
1. layout blind-The absolute king in comfort for napping
2. Marsh Rat- Especially if you are sitting in shallow water
3. Aquapod- A little lighter than my rat and moves around a bit more with the wave action but still a nice napping platform

Just make sure you have an anchor out for option 2 and 3. It would suck to wake up in a shipping lane or something if the tide comes in and takes you away.

Hey, that's a good looking set up - camo's real nice. Need a face mask, or some paint though...

No napping in my pod just yet. I have been busy paddling it around and checking out a variety of backwater areas and sloughs I couldn't get into with the sled. I am looking forward to some weather and having the birds get pushed down into my area so I can chase them in the new spots I have been checking out.
