Thanks very much for the help. Since I am new to waterfowl hunting, my gear is very minimum. I have of 2 great shotguns I use for skeet shooting, as well as a decent pair of wadders. Thats about it. I do have a 11 month old black lab pup (todd) who is a fantastic dog, but we have just had him trained in basics ( heel, sit, down wait, etc) nothing in retrieving. He does retrieve dummies and that is his toy of choice, but thats about as far as he goes. I have taken my hunters education course, but since I'm no longer active duty, I'm required to take the field portion, but according to the classes I found on the states website, the next available field class isn't till the spring time. Looks like I will miss out on the season. But i hope to use this time to further my knowledge, begin to get gear, and get to know some people so that next season I am fully prepared and ready to go!
I was a Maritime Enforcement Specialist in the CG. I was stationed in tampa Fl as well as South Padre Island Tx. I really enjoyed the Federal LE side of things and got out this past Jan to finish my bachelors degree and hope to get on with a federal agency. My wife is still activity duty, and the reason for the move to the NW. This is my first time on the west coast period, and am enjoying it!
