Thanks for sharing your experience guys. I can't say I was disappointed to see he was green and not blue/purple when the dog brought him back, but I did have to Google a bunch of barrows pics to see that some are green. That got me to thinking whether the green might be a result of cross breeding with a common or just natural variations from bird to bird. This is my first barrows and before the Google search, I had only seen more blue examples on the wall.
This bird is going to the taxidermist, I'm gonna have him mounted next to a common and leave an open spot for a blue/purple I hope to take in the future.
