DHC Sporting Clays Shoot-1st annual Toolman invitational

Postby brokerbyduck » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:39 pm

There's been some interest in putting together another dhc sporting clays shoot this year.

We've decided on a central location for most of the members as well as a date. At this point, I need to know how many will show up for the shoot. Please post up to this thread if you will attend.

Once I have a better handle on the number of shooters we will have, I'll call the club to see if they can arrange anything special for us.

When? April 12th 2014 11am-3pm Plan on arriving at 10:30 at the latest as it takes a while to gather everyone up, pay and receive your clay keys. If you are habitually late, make it 10:00am

Where? Seattle Skeet and Trap Club http://www.sstclub.com/

How Much does it cost? http://www.sstclub.com/SST-TriFold3b.pdf

What are we shooting? Seattle Skeet and Trap Club has a 13 stand sporting clays course.

What to bring? A clean, well functioning shotgun, ear protection, minimum 5 boxes of target loads and a good attitude. A case may be more appropriate, you can always shoot up your leftover shells over the off season.

Who is invited? If you are reading this, you are invited. Feel free to bring along friends and family members as well, just include them as a +1 on your response to this thread so I know how many to expect.

Why? We've done this before and had a blast, you will too. This is a shoot for fun, not prizes. The goal is to get together and put names to faces, improve our shooting and have a good time.

Weather disclaimer: I'm driving 3 hours to this shoot, I will be shooting rain, shine, hail or snow. Bring some goretex, it's Spring time in Western Washington...anything could happen.

Count me in. Is it absolutely required to clean my gun though?

Shoot clays or shoot Gobblers? I think it is a no brainer.

You should definitely NOT clean your gun! Especially, if you intend on shooting my missed birds again! :fingerpt:

I have to pick my poison. I would rather cancel baseball practice to go turkey hunting than shoot clays.

I might go, I have to weigh shooting vs going into Seattle. If you say you don't want me to go, I'll definitely show up.

How can it be the "first" "annual" shoot? Answer appropriately and adjust the title and I may attend.

Ok here goes. is their a place to eat and would anyone want to do a bbq style potluck. we have done these in the past and it was always interesting seeing what people bring. are we planning on doing sporting clays, skeet, five stand, or is it a free for all? do they sell shells at the range because I have seen some ranges have better deals than retail stores and I was curious if I should just count on bringing my own or not. Anyone want to get some drinks afterwards? any range rules on betting?

There is a club house though I don't remember them having food. I will have my BBQ, tentative menu is steaks and springer.

Sporting clays, they have 13 stations up and over a hill, though it is still kind of a free for all. We were allowed to pull our own birds and shoot any combo at any station.

They sell shells, Rio I believe. About the same price as anywhere else if I remember.

Betting is fine, I was thinking about a few bottle/beer bets.

I am always up for beers, I know a few of the other guys are too.
