Leon Mathews Taxidermy

Postby greatwhite » Sat Feb 22, 2014 10:40 am

Anyone on the west side send him any birds or planning on it? I spoke with him and I believe I am going to ship him a couple birds. If several people have birds with him, I was going to see if we could taxi them back. I know bknilver posted something similar to this a while back, so just trying to get things going again.

I'll be over in the Linden area the weekend of march 15th and of course ravensdale on April 12th for the shoot. Happy to pick up or drop off some birds for you.

You know that feeling, when you've had a bird in your freezer two years ... KNOWING in your head it was a bruiser when you harvested it, ... but time has past, and memory isn't as crisp on what it looked like ... Well THAT happened to me today.

Got a call from Leon saying, "Your Red's up next!" ... So, after work today, on the way home, ... stopped to see the fleshing process, and Leon saying, "Man Murph, you doubted this one?" ... Well, just got a pic of it via cell phone as Leon was leaving the shop ... GOOOOOOOOD GAWD!

Pic's to come, since the one I got I promised I wouldn't post until it's finished ... WELLLLLLLLL worth the wait, and as it sits on my wall on the day I get it, ... I'll be able to see that flock coming in left to right, about 6ft off the water, CRUISING!

It will be a stud on my diver wall ... along side my Common Ge, ... Barrows, ... Canvasback, ... and Ringer Drakes!

The "Man Cave" in the new home is gonna have an EPIC wall !!!!

I'll stop by there and talk with Leon. He's an excellent taxidermist but is absolutely terrible at self promotion!
I'll see if I can get him to post up some good pics on his facebook page for you.

I was there today but didn't see any finished rock bases at the moment. I left word for Leon that you wanted some pics.
