I stopped in for a few hours and chatted with a few DHC members. Looked over Tealers boats and generally spent time looking around while Bella sniffed up every dog at the event, and more than a few people as well.

It was good fun. I ran the dog in the timed doubles, hit most of vendors and my kid got to pet the live wood duck. Only real let down was the "barbecue".

: Wow ... over on the FB page for the OWF, I rated my "Pro's & Con's" of the festival ... the lady who catered the BBQ defended her $12.95 price a plate ... REALLY? That dinner and price of ticket was an absolute JOKE! Thanks for the BBQ backup comment Broker ... anyone else have a comment on the BBQ or when does a "fundraiser turn into a rip off?"

I heard the same comments from the few around on Sunday. They won't be selling me a BBQ ticket next year. I'd rather BBQ at camp.

That's too bad, the food was really good 2 years ago. I hope they sort it out for next year.

Overall, I thought the festival was very good, but I did feel a little ripped off on the barbecue and entertainment. I gave them $30.00 to run my dog twice in the doubles deal. I enjoyed the hell out of that. I felt like that was a far better value than the $35.00 I shelled out for me and the boy to eat cold food on pita bread. Seriously, F'N PITA BREAD! :fingerpt:

A couple things here to comment on. First, this was a public event. I feel the dinner/concert and the raffle(?) and auctions were handled more like a DU event, maybe not as high dollar event but like a DU event just the same. The general public expects more. Like for instance, raffling off the desert the caterer supplied was beyond tacky, to those who noticed that was what was going on.
I will say in defense of both the OWF and the caterer, the fairgrounds personnel assured that there would be power available and so, the caterer did not bring her generator. If they would have had the power, the food would have been hot or, at least warm. Still wouldn't have been any bigger portions but, just saying.
I'll have to go check out the OWF FB page and see what is being said and asked.
I probably wouldn't pay the $30 if I had it to do over.
