That dinner and price of ticket was an absolute JOKE! Thanks for the BBQ backup comment Broker ... anyone else have a comment on the BBQ or when does a "fundraiser turn into a rip off?"

A couple things here to comment on. First, this was a public event. I feel the dinner/concert and the raffle(?) and auctions were handled more like a DU event, maybe not as high dollar event but like a DU event just the same. The general public expects more. Like for instance, raffling off the desert the caterer supplied was beyond tacky, to those who noticed that was what was going on.
I will say in defense of both the OWF and the caterer, the fairgrounds personnel assured that there would be power available and so, the caterer did not bring her generator. If they would have had the power, the food would have been hot or, at least warm. Still wouldn't have been any bigger portions but, just saying.
I'll have to go check out the OWF FB page and see what is being said and asked.
I probably wouldn't pay the $30 if I had it to do over.

Thanks for the input Paw ...

The whole idea now is to generate a pile of money, from a shrinking crowd. There are less waterfowlers every year, and more money is required to maintain/gain land/access. My only real issue is by the time I donate to WWA, ODHA, DU, Delta I don't want the festival milking me for every last drop too. Everything this year seemed to gear towards max profit and less about a quality event.

The problem last year was they ran out of food. Otherwise it was great.

As for the American idol singer. Not. Great.

Not to pile on but, here's my take of the weekend. First and biggest gripe. Stop calling this the biggest waterfowl event west of the Mississippi. Never been to a California show but this more like camping with your buddies before the hunt and someone brought along their pro-staff swag in the back of their truck  . Seriously, I was expecting much more my first year so this year I knew what it was about. Tealer,Tool, and Broker- duck camp was fun hanging out with ya'll! That BBQ- wow! Power or no power, what they served for the $ was B.S. :fingerpt: . The people running this event seriously miss the mark when it comes knowing what hunters want and expect.Seems as if it took about a few weekends of phone calls and meetings to set-up what they produced. Shame WA doesn't have one. Waterfowlers in the West are so desperate to have an event like this, their stuck with the OWF. Maybe some day we can have an event that entire Northwest derserves. Until then guys will probably continue to go just to hang with their buddies which unfortunately will come off as "support" for the event. Anyone care to carry the torch and leave a legacy with a new event can count on me for support. Maybe this experience is what I needed to become more active in the sport that I have grown to love. Everything has a purpose :clapping:

I can tell you exactly what it takes to run a festival. It's a lot more then you think.

If the numbers the Cali guys gave me is right their show is 3x the size.

I would live to see WWA throw a WA festival but it will never happen.

oh, that's a bummer... I didn't know they ran out of food last year.
Wish I would've went this year and bought a half-breed from you guys. Ended up with
a craigslist aquapod.

Still have one demo boat left. Probably close to the same price as a used pod.

I would take you up on it, if I hadn't
already paid for the pod.
