Where to train?

Postby quack-quack » Tue Jul 31, 2012 1:40 pm

Hey guys I am looking for a place where I can take my dog off leash and train her. I really want to work on water retrieving and would like to see if anyone knows of a place near Hartford, or 30-45min away, that I can train? I know there are a lot of clubs but I would like to find a place where I can go by myself or with a friend and train.

It seems that most parks require a leash, so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

thats too bad your not closer, Im always looking from one or two ppl to train with.

May have to put some road time on and ask the farmers. Most ppl are more than willing to let you train on there property.

I train in mostly public hunting land around the house. Can think of a couple places within a 20 minute drive from Waukesha!

I thought that public hunting grounds during the off-season you had to have your dog on a leash? I am close to Theresa and Allenton marsh, can I train off leash there?
Also what spots do you know near Waukesha that I may be able to go to?

All public land you need your dog on a leash. About 1/4 or less of the people that use the public land actually listen to that, up by us its not a big deal, you walk down the trail and there are dogs all over the place not on a leash, down by you im not sure...

I've always let my dog run free, along with everyone else I see around.

You do not have to have your dog on a leash at public hunting grounds. The only time they need to be on a leash is during nesting season which is April 15th to July 31st. So for the rest of this year you are good.
