Take our boats through the thick stuff. Bring a cooler and stop ta BS. Get ta know some good guys and set up hunts fer the fall. It a good time to explore the marsh since there's other guys ta pull ya out if ya get buried.

Yup. I normally do. Just bigger and easier access at the John Deere landing. When I hunt I put in there or mallard landing.

I go there most times since its closest from where I live. It's nice but it's quite a ride up the river ta even get ta the marsh. Fun ride though. Just watch out round em corners fer kayakers!

Ya yer OB ain't gettin too far. 2 months ago a bud of mine tried gettin out with his 25 OB, couldn't even get through the shallows at the landing.

If ya wanna meet up ta ride you'll have a blast. Be there at noon.

LOL!!! The ride was awesome! At least the riding part.... We got stuck fer 3 of the 6 hours! 300 yards up a slough. Bad stuff. Both 1842 with a modded PD 27 FPR and my buds 17ish foot gator trax and his 5500 Black Death were done fer. A lot a pushin.

The marsh is still damn low. You'd get in the marsh with yer 14' boat and MM. If ya got a small MM I wouldn't try pushin the limits ta where yer goin though. We got stuck 300 yards up the slough but another bud of ours got stuck only 50 yards up the slough with a smaller rig. A lot a the huntin spots I used ta get to ain't gonna happen fer a while. There should only be about 40-50% of the people huntin this fall considerin 50-60% of the guys out there use an OB and there ain't no way they're gettin even very far from the landing. In the main channel just up from the John Deere landing there was only 6" a water.

yea when going over hwy 49, the south side of the road which usually is all water, is now a mud flat... however the storm system that JUST went through seemed to help out a lot. there are some chances of rainfall in the next week so hopefully we get it, slowly but surely the water is comming and bringing us back to normal. which is abnormal for august weather, usually this time of year its humid, really hot, kinda like july was this year. Seems the two months flip flopped. I'm hoping to get out there and do some scouting soon.

There's a ton a geese any season out there. They just have different patterns than the ducks. I don't eat geese so I don't hunt them.

Thanks for the replies! Hope you guys get some water soon. I am going to be driving around the marsh (roads only, no boat) this weekend, as I have to move my son back to Madison for school. Is the JD landing on the east side of the marsh? What road?

Thanks

A fair amount of rain in the last week, but not enough for us outboarders. Launched my 17' Grizzly w/merc 50 by JD yesterday.
Main channel in the middle was ok, but couln't even get past the first split without suckin mud. Maybe time for a surface drive :)
