This past week was aweful up here. Not a lot of birds to be found other then in the parks. We needed fresh birds, and now we got em! Friday we saw a lot migrating, the hunting was tough though. Today we had fresh birds in and seen a few rafts. Unfortunately, there was not much ice to be found this morning, which, small groups of mallards were still able to get in their back water holes. By noon, a considerable amount of ice had built on the water Sunday morning and Monday morning should be a different story however by noon, a lot of ice had formed. I love the first morning of a freeze! Those ducks go to land in the holes and they are locked tight. Now they are flying around stupid looking for new water. In a couple hours I will introduce them to some new friends called GHG....

Looks like all the birds are still up north? I was south of Milwaukee and only say 8 birds, in two groups all morning.
I could just suck though.

The birds are here! Saw a lot of new birds this morning and ended up getting my first shoveler of my hunting career. Had the jerk-string working in the ice and the birds were loving it. Can't wait to get back out.
There will be blood!

Out again today..... then again what morning am I not out....
Anyway, I think we need to see some more cold. It is not cold enough. Only minimal ice. Need more lakes and marshes to freeze to funnel all those ducks to the moving water....

Smoked em this morning! Got a nice two man limit of mallards in about an hour. Hunting some fast moving stuff! It was actually good that we had the limit cause when I was retrieving the last two ducks, I slipped on a rock and couldn't get my balance in the current. Face planted into the water. Luckily I was able to get up fast enough so the waders didn't fill up, but my coat was soaked and gun got it bad. Froze solid in about 2 minutes. Was not enjoyable!

That's it?! Duck season ended and so did the thread? No body is chasing the geese until the 21st?

I been scouting fields left and right the past week. I was out for geese last Sunday, and then again on Wednesday. Got limits, both days, but unfortunately my hunting buddy couldn't make it out. No pics cause it ain't worth it for only 2 or 4 geese. I have a hunt for tomorrow that I am going to have to do solo again. My buddy has a funeral, another is chasing walleye on The Bay, and my other buddy works. But with the weather coming in and the snow, I think I'm going to have to do it before it affects their pattern. But I am getting a ton of mallards coming into my field decs. Always after it closes.

Ducks weren't so good on Dec 1 and 2 for us. Although the 30th my buddy and I managed to bag a few...

Very nice WarWagon. My buddy was fishing on the bay this weekend and was seeing a ton still migrating. Seems like the majority of the migration has ceased in the middle of the state. Lots of birds hanging around, but man are they wearing me out! I am lucky to have permission on just about every field they are hitting, but I can't pattern the bast#rd$. They'll be hitting one field for 3 days, then the day I go hunting, they are at another field. And this isn't even me doing anything wrong, they just won't even come close enough to take a look. Seems like they are always a step ahead of me. This morning I thought I had them, saw like two groups of 10 high flying, nothing else. After ward, I drove down the road and there they all were.

I think I 'm gonna go nuts before I get to shoot at these birds. If I ever do catch up with them, it will be a hunt for the ages. There are over 1000 birds but they are all coming in groups of 6, 10, 15, some 20. over the course of 1.5 hrs. Couldn't ask for anything better!

Yes they are hard to pattern. We have found that they have been coming off the roost and then flying to some gathering place then flying out. It's late by the time they fly 8 to 8:30. We have had some luck by having 4 guys scout at one time. We got our 10 bird limit today but, we are moving every day. Here is 8 on the pic but one guy had to leave before I could take a picture together. We were done today by 9:30.

Most be nice. I get to scout solo since I work 2nd shift. My hunting buddies are teachers or work at banks so they are no help. They just show up on the weekend when I have the hunts lined up.....

It will be interesting to see what the geese are going to do with all this snow cover. Season might be other in this area.... unless I start hunting water again.

Funny how u show guys pics and they want to come out and use one of your layout blinds, not scout, not buy any decoys, then when u help them get your layout blind setup that their using they ask u for shells!

Yeah but the good thing is no arguing about setting up and so forth.... It's the muskyduck show

Those massive flocks by Marshfield.... It's not a surprise that they are still around. Unfortunately the flocks that I have been working found a new place to be. Checked yesterday and they weren't on the roost, in the air, or in the fields.

I sure wish I was still going.... Haven't seen a goose in my area since the snow covered everything up. U definitely have a good thing with the lake out to the east there.
