I don't keep a kill count but I do keep a shell count. In the last 3 years I have fired exactly 53 rounds.

Another stat I keep track of is price per pound of all game meat that goes in my freezer. Last tally was $416/lb.

Is your 1 goal in life to bring people down? I'm guessing when you were in school you were a bully for 3 reasons, 1. To make your life seem better
2. To make you feel smarter
3. To compensate for your little pee pee!

The best thing to remember in Waterfowl hunting is not the numbers of birds a guy has harvested, :fingerpt: but the time in the field hunting with friends. :clapping: The sights you see, the morning sunrises that are so breathtaking. We all can get caught up in the numbers game, but it does not make for a successful season.

War Wagon hit it on the head. You youngins seem to think otherwise, that it's all about numbers. It's not, and that's what makes you dbags. Someday when you've got a flock of 100 redlegs feet down in the kill hole, and you reach for your camera instead of your gun, then you'll have it figured it out. Waterfowling is all about the experience and sharing it with friends, watching that hard work you put into training your dog pay off when you sail a cripple 300 yards and he smacks the blind retrieve, ribbing your buddy for missing easy shots. Killing birds so you can boast about your kill count is on the low end of importance...

You think after my first season of duck hunting a lot more peopke would be happy that more and more people are starting to hunt. Im part of the uw madison chapter of DU and we gain 20+ volunteers every year. So before you run your **** mouth like a complete ass clown realize that im doing more than keeping track of kills I help with restoration of the sport all the time. Also keeping stats isnt just bragging it helps pick up on things in any sport.

This whole post should be deleted. It's useless and just causes arguments. Grow up if your going to "online duck hunt".

Ain't that the truth!

WhistlingWings, your totals aren't that impressive actually. Numbers are kept close to your chest unless you are asked to show your cards. And, Buffies are comparable to Coots. Watch em and don't be the douche that shoots em.

I enjoy shooting buffleheads and eating them fresh. I also eat coot on occasion. Guess that makes me a douche.

Not a bad count! Take what you learned this year, and hope the pop's stay up, and you should do even better next year

People say they taste like "divers" but I think "divers" taste like puddlers.

I honestly haven't had the chance to shoot one since I was little, or I'd know.

Here on the big muddy mississippi there's a die off each year of coots - dead coots all over, caused by trematodes. It is disgusting. I didn't see much of it this year but I didn't get out at all early season. Did anyone else on the river see this at all this year?

This fact definitely prevents me from even thinking about eating a coot from around here!

I didnt see as many as last year. most of the ones I saw dead were from eagles. Ive eaten one coot before. It had good taste right away but the after taste was awful. It was very tender compared to the divers i cooked along side it. It may be decent with a marinade. I cooked it plain breast. The thing smelt like s*** when cleaning it tho
