What species of ducks?

Postby honkerbonker22 » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:53 pm

Wondering what species of ducks are generally seen in Wyoming? I am needing to know what decoys to bring with me when I move to Wyoming. Also, are there snows and specks there?
Thanks

I duck hunted in the Laramie area for a few years and we saw everything, cans, rudy ducks you name it. The majority was gaddies and widgeon, lots of teal early, not a ton of mallards, oh, and coots everywhere.

It looks like you're going to be on the western side of Wyoming, I was on the eastern. The flyway divide run pretty much right through the middle of the state and you'll be in the pacific flyway. I have a buddy out that way. Get ready to shoot pintails. He says they go out, clean up their pintail limits, and then have to pick through the pintails to find the mallards and other ducks. This is not a problem I have ever run into, but sounds pretty friggin cool to me.
