Early Goose

Postby BGipson » Mon Sep 05, 2016 2:22 pm

Took a couple friends out for a morning shoot and had a great time. We were on 1 of the 8-10 "x's" in a 1 square mile section so we were competing with real birds the whole time but still managed 1 short of our 4 man limit.

MountainGreenhead's Gunner dog got to get them. He's 9 this year (I think) so I figured he would appreciate a warmer, easier hunt. Leia has Saskatchewan all to herself in a few weeks.

Goose is not open over here in Converse County. We did manage to pile up some morning doves lately and blue grouse. Looks like your early goose closes today so good luck out there BGipson

Looks like they may be raising the limit on the early goose to 4.

Lots of water and lots of geese may be the forecast for the year.

Where did you find this out from? I'd love for it to be true!

Awesome! Also interesting to see the start of a snow goose season in our area. I actually had a lone snow come into my duck spread 2 years ago in December that I had to let go. I had a lengthy discussion with the state biologist and he tried using the excuse that guys would mistake swans for snows as the reason we didn't have a season. I guess he came to his senses that swans everywhere else in the nation have remained safe despite snow goose seasons and has put forth this proposal.
