Postby phil » Sat Aug 22, 2009 12:24 pm

I will be hunting on a private lake about an hour north of Toronto in late October with a couple of friends. We have never hunted the area. Never been through customs with a firearm. Don't know what to expect with the weather that time of year. Don't know what the hunting is like in that area? I would be greatful for your imput.

If your close to lake Simcoe the hunting is great when the birds push. last year we booked a shoot on sturgeon lake, on October 27th and we were pretty much in t-shirts. It's supposed to be a mild September, but hopefully, October will bring some weather with it. Ther's alot of water in that area, So it may be difficult to find where there loafting or roosting. Crop fields are a good way to get e'm there. Depending on the size of the lake, Or the food sources there, you should get a pretty good mix of birds.

It could be warm an balmy to snow and high wind. Lakes usually don't freeze up solid yet, but be prepare for some wet stuff (rain or snow).

I live in Southern Ontario. Be ready for anything, lol. Could be 15 cel. , or could be snowing.
