Saskatchewan harvest

Postby REM1100 » Tue Sep 15, 2009 1:47 am

About 20% of the grain crop has been harvested and another 19% swathed
68% of the peas are done and about 75% of the winter wheat
The southwest has about 40% harvested and the north about 5% and central parts near 20%
The warm dry weather is maturing the crops and it needs a couple more weeks to get it in the bins
The birds have an ample food supply but the warm weather is holding them up north with some lessor activity
and scarce snow sightings. local birds are hitting the fields near the refuge as soon as it is swathed
smaller ponds are shallow and dry and the birds are using the larger bodies of water protected near the highways

Anyways the farmer's almanac says it is going to get colder by 5 degrees soon this fall and winter perhaps enhancing migration
on the X in Saskatchewan
