Could be tough to get fields in Sask

I hear East Central Saskatchewan got hit hard as many fields were not seeded any some farmers got in some Winter wheat and due to the heavy rains some pea fields got swamped. areas near the Lakes are very soggy and some bigger ponds are covering the smaller black dirt roads to honeyholes.
It will be a great seasaon for sandhill cranes and plenty of local ducks and big local honkers..hunting snows could be a matter of finding a field and sharing permission on a field. Lessors will be good and the upland birds are a sure bet Hopefully I will be up[ there in Oct and will be bringing more #1s, #2s and #3s for the smaller easy access birds and leave my full choke and BBs at home
....packing the improved cylinder and modified

Western Sask is a sure bet to be as there are crops=birds

Expect to burn alot of gas scouting.

They are probably on vacation!!! Gave up!

We hunt the area just north of there. I heard from several of our farmer friends that they got less than 20 percent of their fields seeded! Extreme wet conditions and continuous rain, heavy dew, and high humidity have rendered what they did get seeded questionable. Appears to be a total disaster for the Foam Lake/ Fishing Lake area and north. I think the central/western part of Sask escaped the heavy downpours and may have made a crop. Eastern and Southeastern Saskatchewan appear to have taken the brunt of the wet weather. We're still going, but expect heavy competition for the available fields that have been lucky enough for a crop to have been made and harvested. Any fields that did get planted were planted late and may not be off til late. We'll be drinking lots of coffee and sharing a "bun" with our friends, but probably little hunting.

The gamblers in Vegas are penny ante compared to farmers!!!

I am gearing up for the Sandhill cranes and sharptails as I have access for those rockpiles and hayfields.
I have painted a couple snow wind mojos to become duck mojos for a total of 4.
My farmer friend has a new 4 wheel ATV that he can drop me off on to hunt chickens
Meanwhile I will have a late September scout hunting there a week before my arrival and hope to get an afternooon snow shoot.
I think I may have to chase the big Honkers as there may be unplanted fields with some new growth of green sparsley in some places..It certainly would not hurt to bring some floaters duck and geese for the intermediate pit stops plus waders.

I will have play it by ear and hope I time it right as the birds will definitely be there and I have to be at the right place at the right time and hope there will be reports on activity from hunter who have gone before me...still I am still going barring any
health concerns.
