Spring canada goose hunt?

Postby flockrockr72 » Thu Feb 09, 2006 6:40 pm

I work with a guy who's telling me that Manitoba is having a spring canada goose hunt. Is there any truth in that? And if so, is the season open to non-residents? Thanks guys.

Yes, we do have a spring snow goose hunt, but I have no clue as to wether it is open to non-residents. I will look into it and let you know.

Thanks mallardman, but this guy is telling me that canada geese are in season this spring. That is really my question. I'm guessing probably not, just wishful thinking. I've never heard of canada geese seasons in the spring.

I have heard talk of it, but nothing concrete. If I had to guess I would say no, but I've been wrong once or twice. I have also heard talk of an extra early canada goose season that would start in early August.

Unfortunately (for me too!) there is no spring Canada goose season  I still haven't had a chance to call and find out about non-resident snow goose season yet. If you still want me to look into it, i'd be more than happy to!

In Southern Ontario, where Canada's are overpopulated, they have a one week early hunt with higher limits in the first week of September. We also get a week in February with the same higher limits. The regular season is Sept 25-Dec 31 in most of Ontario.

NRs can indeed hunt SNOW geese in the spring CO season. If a NR goes--or even a R goes--remember that Ross geese are off limits--so you had better know your birds well before you pull the trigger. This goes across provincial borders and applies to all.

As for if there is a Canda Goose spring season-- I have not heard anything about it at all.
