Early Season Canada Duck and Goose Hunting

Postby FowlPlay27403 » Thu Nov 07, 2013 7:57 am

Hello all,

Happy opening week of the middle duck season in most places in the lower 48. I am trying to find information about setting up an early duck/goose hunt in Saskatchewan, or other areas of Canada for next September/October 2014. I want to hear everything, from best to worst outfitters. Numbers killed, best time of year, pictures whatever. I want to make this an open forum about early season duck hunting in Canada. I want to start planning this trip by the beginning of 2014. I really want to focus on ducks but geese are a bonus and when I am hunting fields up there I will welcome both when I am laying in a layout blind. So tell me your stories, your triumphs, and your heart aches. Names of guides and outfitters are much appreciated. The do's and don'ts etc..

Howdy. I live and hunt southern manitoba. Lots of birds round in October. We shot around 200 birds last fall. Had some real good hunts. I have pictures but I can't get em to work.

This seems like potential to be a good thread. I'm also interested in others Canada hunts especially those who freelance it!

Can't really go wrong hunting any time from sept 1st till closing day I live on the Alberta/Sask. Border last fall we opened the season with limits of greater Canada's and limits of ducks I closed down the season with limits of green heads total of 634 ducks/geese in 2013 season. as far as outfitters go check out ranch land outfitters in elk point Alberta another I would suggest is lucky lake outfitters in sask

I like Lucky Lake.
Things get going around Oct 1 other that you are shooting some local birds and mosquitoes. You have to travel north around Lloydminster and beyond to get the start of the migration like the Peace River area.
