It's a big country... but overall, it's been a typical annoyingly cold and snowy winter pretty well coast to coast. The snow pack is above average in my area, and it was -38 C this morning. Spring seems a long way off... but we usually see the first geese returning by the end of March

It has been a cold winter here in SE Alberta with very little snow. Currently minus 18 C but has been much colder lately.
Hope we get a bunch of snow soon or the sloughs will be dry this Spring.
Other parts of Alberta have seen above avg snow fall but incredibly cold temps.

I just got this E-Mail from Rob, I asked him about weather and snow levels.
Here is his reply:

I assume this inquiry is in regards to anticipated water levels here for 2014 and that you are planning to come for a waterfowl hunt?

Our winter this year has been extremely cold (record low temperatures recorded over many periods), minus 50 degrees here last week with the wind chill.

Also, we have received significant snowfall over the past month, such that we are getting close to the same levels as last winter in the Regina area.

I think it’s fair to predict that we will have an abundance of water after the spring melt and barring an unforeseen summer drought, we should have another excellent year for waterfowling in Saskatchewan!

Saw lots of geese last week, a few small sloughs around but the majority are roosting back on the river. Lots of snow and cold up here to, but suppose to be double digits all next week, I think we finally have spring.
