We have a spring goose season in Southern BC(Canadas only),and yesterday was our first day out.We picked up 6 birds although it was very cold(-6),and most birds were headed for the open water and didn't look at the spread at all. It's going to warm up by Saturday and we'll get onto them then. The interesting thing was the numbers of Pintails coming in to our field.I knew that Pins chased the ice on their way north, but these birds are early, and it's -13 outside as I type! The closest wintering area for pins is the Coast,360 miles away and the only open water is Okanagon lake. They usually hang around for 2 or 3 weeks in the spring, and then they are headed north to who knows where, probably Alaska.Migration is an amazing thing to watch!
