Postby Jethro48 » Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:05 am

They are holding a meeting at library on August 27 from 6-8 about Hovey Lake FWA discussing future plans and and question and answer session also! Here is only real piece of info I've been able to find is from Local paper here's link to it!

Although there has been improvements it's it's no where it needs to be!!

In a nutshell:

Adam went over where the geese are, why we dont have as much as we used to and where a lot of them are being harvested. They are all up in Northern IN.
He went over zones and February season. They are not adding any counties to the Feb season as they would have to start their data all over again and dont want to do that and other reason with FWS.

A 25 shell limit is going to be State FWA wide this year to make it easy and even across the board.

Locally they are planting some rice, corn, and other food plots in moist soil units and other marshes. They are also trying to plant and start more vegetation in the lake like it used to be back in the day.

Basically what I got out of the meeting was that nothing drastically is going to be dont (new land, new impoundments, etc) because of funding. Only way things are getting done right now is because of of the Army Corps Of Eng.

All days hunts are gone and all hunting must stop at 1 PM CST on Hovey to let birds get back in and rest.

Couldnt be any more clearer if you ask me? No more than 25 shells :hammer:

I would like to see this in writing on larger lakes such as Patoka and that it will be a 25 shell limit also? Wish the DNR would work a little faster to get our rules out.

I have had to call 3 places for rules regaurding early goose and teal season as nothing is posted on closed zones and such waiting for calls back from 2 of those?

Patoka is not a FWA so it won't have a limit that I know of.

I'm a state moderator. Sorry about that. Trying to get it back. I went to edit a post from me and it deleted the entire thread.

Glad the shell limit was upped to one box I hated leaving 4-5 shells in truck. They start building up lol. Not often u need more than 4-5 shells all day there anyways.
