the place you want to look is the habitat page at duck hunters' refuge. there are a number of good ole' boys (campesinos sabios) there who know a thing or two about farming for ducks. there is a lot to be learned by reading the postings there. http://www.refugeforums.com/refuge/foru
my thoughts on your ponds: figure out a way to drain them partially in the spring, and then plant the banks with a mix of the good stuff (proso millet, sudan grass, milo, buckwheat). Kill doves on it in the fall, then flood it in the winter, and kill some ducks.
