habitat vs mallard vs bluebill

Postby MOwaterfowler » Mon Oct 12, 2009 10:40 pm

anyone think or know if the quest for mallards (greenheads) is forcing out other ducks.

i notice i can no longer see as many blubills (the staple duck were i hunt) mainly a diver are we get mallards but when they show everyone hollars at them. but we used to have duck all winter from the scualp and ringnecks to eat. now two shots and sit around waiting for mallards or something like a woody or weigon. in the mean time flock after flock buzzes the blind 5' off the deck and buzzing the tower.

whats the verdict c/b folks am i just addeled by the lack of limit or is there a real issue with americas favorite duck and habitat.

Scaup have been in decline since the 60's. Current theories include malnutrition due to declining food sources and possible selenium accumulation affecting recruitment.
