hen boxes

My buddy's dad has a couuple of old hen boxes out on a pond he owens and I'm just looking for some tips on getting them back in shape for this spring, like what"s the best bedding and what time frame do i have to do this?

You might be a little late for this year.

I am in Alabama and my woodies are all over my boxes.

Just make sure that the bitties have a way to get out of the box. I stapled wire mesh on the inside of my boxes leading up to the hole.

And if you are building more of them hinge the bottom to be able to dump out last years shavings and trash.
