Controlling/clearing hardwood underbrush

Postby goosetalk » Wed May 03, 2006 11:06 am

I need to control/clear some of the underbrush on my turkey/deer hunt'n spot. I know that prescribed burning is the best, but a professional is needed due to my inexperience and the landscape. I know herbicides are used in the southeast for pine stands. From what i've read, the herbicides would damage the mature hardwood stand, as well as control the underbrush. Is this correct and are there any herbicides that can be used in hardwood stands. If not, if i clear it with machinery, how do i keep the brush from growing back thicker.
