Max distance from river

Postby kwacksmacker40 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 11:57 pm

Just wondering how far a field could be from a river in order to flood, just generally speaking. I guess it depends on how much pipe you want to deal with. Im trying to get my hands on a piece of property that has a field right on the river and another that is about 200 yards from the river and I dont know if water floods it naturally. Just curious if the other field could be logically pumped if levied??

I think it has less to do with distance than it does elevation.

You might want to inquire with your state's department of safety or warter resources about flooding potential and the 50- or 100-year flood levels.

FYI: water flows downhill.
