Transplanting Duck Weed

Postby mdycrk » Mon Dec 03, 2012 7:47 am

I've got a big swamp located just off one of the rivers here, that I don't think has any duck weed growing in it currently. I thought about trying to transplant some duck weed from another pond into this swamp and get some started to hopefully attract ducks.
Has anyone done this and had success? What kind of steps/pointers can I get for doing it? The pond with the established duck weed is a long distance from the "new" pond. My thought was just to dip a few buckets of duckweed and water out of the other pond and transport it to the new. How long would the duckweed be in buckets before getting dumped into the new pond?

Check with the state first to see if it is legal . because of the poliferation of nuisance species, many states don't allow any transfer of any weeds from one area to another. In my state if you have aquadic weeds on your trailer going down the hwy they can fine you.
