Fields along river

Postby greenhead55 » Mon Dec 03, 2012 10:11 pm

I posted a question about planting something in cove fed by the river but have a question about planting in the fields. The farm I hunt has three large fields along the river that are currently cut for hay. The farmer is willing to plant whatever for some $ and help around the farm. The river bank is a cliff about 30 yds down so its not as if the birds can feed the edges. The fields cannot be flooded so it will remain dry other than precipitation. Is it worth it for me to have him plant something in those fields for the ducks and geese? If so what crop would that be and how much. Its probably about 25 acres if I was to guess. It also has two small ponds that I cannot control drain/flood that I would like to plant something in. This is located in PA. Thanks for the help!
