I seen the Mallards on my pond acting strange yesterday, so I went down to the duck house and found a 'possum in it looking back at me! I was just wondering if they eat duck eggs or if it wanted to nest there? Whatever the reason, it made me angry.
Some things are like wiping before pooping, they just don't make any sense.

Yes they will eat the eggs. They are opportunistic feeders.
That is why I trap.

YES they do. I raise mallards and the opposums are a constant fight to keep out of the pens. They love the eggs and ducklings too.
I'll start treating my wife as good as my dog when she starts fetching ducks.

They certainly are a concern as far as next predation goes. The critters have also been extending their range further north each decade and now are as far north as Duluth in MN. As they spread into the bread basket of duck production, the prairie pothole region , additonal pressure is being put on nesting fowl.
