Help with 80 acre Beaver Pond

Postby Jamis004 » Tue Dec 31, 2013 11:47 am

I have attached a few pictures of some of the plants that surround our beaver pond. It is a good resting hole for mid morning ducks. We would like to try and plant some more food / grow natural food to attract more morning ducks as well. I am pretty sure these pictures are bulrush with a little smartweed mixed in. I have been doing some reading and bulrush seems to be a good natural food for the ducks, but I have never seen them in them and it seems to be choking out the smartweed. We have some water control, but cannot completely drain the area. We are wanting to kill this bulrush this spring, draw water down to help promote smartweed, and plant some corn/millet. Any advice would be appreciated with the existing plants.

I would check my local state Extension Service or ASCS office, and ask what you can use to spray that to kill it, definitely drain it down as far as you before you plant but you probably want to try to spray that stuff to kill it before you plant.

Even duct tape can't fix stupid ... but it can muffle the sound!
