Conservation organizations

Postby GreenDecoy » Mon Jul 11, 2005 2:26 pm

Everyone who duck hunts should be involved within an organization or give back to nature on their own time in some way. My comment is what organization is better, Ducks Unlimited or Delta Waterfowl. They both are fighting for the same cause. After thinking about the two organizations and their differences, think about why these organizations cann't work together. More man power, more ideas, and more resources. We all want to bring the duck population back to normal and we all want to see the duck habitat be in prime condition, why all the politics?

There are many players on the conservation field. They have different positions. They have various areas of coverage and expertise, local, national and international. By coming together with different solutions to complex problems they do work together. The various organizations appeal to people differently and some folks support one or another or many. If it were not for the differences some people would provide no support at all. All of the politicking I have seen is not between the various conservation organizations; it is with small intolerant groups of people who believe their way is the only way. They kind of remind me of those sorry SOBs in the Middle East.

I have served on 3 Orgs committees. DU, Delta, and MN Waterfowl Assn. (2 years on DU, 4 years on Delta, 7 years on 3 chapters of MWA).

Considering how low the basic memberships are, most everyone can be a members of the Delta, DU, and your state waterfowl Org.

The key is in additon to the basic memberships, where you send your extra $ to in where your personal leanings are as they all serve an important role.
