New pond done and holdin birds!

Postby goosemob » Wed Apr 29, 2009 10:19 am

Our pond got finished around october, and has finally filled up. The pond is half flooded timber and other half is in the field. My dad just went out there this past weekend and saw we had about a dozen wood ducks in the timber and he said we had another dozen or so other ducks out in the open part in the field but he could not make out what they were. But i figured since we was holding birds this could be a pretty good sign for the next season to come.

Sweet. Dumb question, will you keep the timber flooded year round? Will the trees tolerate that much moisture?

you need to get the water off the trees it will kill the trees if you leave water on them year around

No pictures as of yet gonna try and get them posted up soon. but we are leaving the water in the timber at all times cause it takes a lot of water to fill it up but I think it will take a good while before the trees die.

Congrats on gettin the birds on your pond, but if you hold water on it for more than a year without draining it down at all expect to lose some of your trees.
