Outside help?

Postby duckbuddy » Sat Dec 24, 2011 6:46 pm

Hunting on monday and need some pointers on how to hunt a spread from the outside. When to call and flag. You cant flag normally as Ive been told, you need to cut it down alot, but how do you call when the birds want calling all the way. It seems awkward to call when they are about to settle, yet you are 15-20 yrds from the spread.

Let say your decoys are set like C and you hunt 20 yards to the down wind side of the C ad off to the side. You hit them from the side as they fly into committing to the decoys. This is useful when there is no cover and we use a rock break to hide in, or an adjacent field.

Flagging is done as they are far away and never coming close. If they get closer you draw their attention from the decoys to you and that's a bad idea.

There is nothing better than hunting with friends and then crackin' a couple of cold ones afterwards.
