Changing it up

Postby hockymvp » Fri Dec 30, 2011 7:03 pm

Have you ever heard of, or think it would ever be a good idea to use a duck call while out goose hunting? I see them in fields together all the time. Would this mimic a real life situation better?

I dont think it would hurt anything, but i think youd be better served to primarily use your goose call. Never tried it, thats just my opinion. Seems as though geese like to land with geese and that ducks will land amongst each. Just my experience with them.

I know that geese don't like ducks...ducks will come into a goose spread but geese won't fly over ducks to land.

I don't see it helping you kill a goose honestly.

I see them together all the time here in Boulder county. I literally saw hundreds mixed with a large flock of Geese, so I was wondering if this was a common thing these days. I would say maybe eighty percent of the time I saw Geese this year they had Ducks mixed in, or trailing.

With geese if you are on the "X" they will come in with very little sometimes. Sometimes you have to talk them in with a goose call and flag. Everything I hunt has a mix of ducks and geese in fields. I have never seen a flock of geese or single goose turn to a duck call.
