Goose hunt with some fellow DHC members yesterday

Postby TomKat » Sun Jan 22, 2012 7:59 am

I went out yesterday with goodkarmarising, mohuntingguy, and my cousin Mike. It was COLD but we had birds working in the morning, so you tend to not notice it as much

Here is goodkarmarising and mohuntinguy

Brandy was on pretty good yesterday. She does not like ice, but is learning to deal with it. She retrievied all of these geese and fought the ice all day doing it.

A bonus bird came into our spread

Me and my cousin-

Me with Mohuntingguy. He is a good goose caller, it was neat to see him turn birds and land them in our water spread.

It was a good hunt. I enjoy shooting geese, and you its a good challenge for Brandy. She has learned to grab them by the wing to retrieve them. I have images from the hunt in my mind- mostly the shooting part  We got them in the hole and put the :hammer: on them. I was using 3" Federal BB loads. The dead geese didn't mind that I wasn't using 3.5 " shells.

That sounds like a good hunt and lots of fun. I also hooked up and invited a DHC member and took him on his first field goose hunt. We only had a couple but I called them from about 1/4 mile away and worked them on top of us. I think RonRob is hooked now. Him and my kid brother are going song dogs hunting next weekend. That is what I was hoping from joining the forum... learn, share your experience, and meet other people to hunt with and share the fun!!! I just wish we had seen more than that pair of birds!!! Sunny, warm, and no wind sucks!!!
