Missouri Goose Hunting

Postby Team Travban » Wed Dec 19, 2012 3:18 pm

My friends and I are in the process of planning a Canada Goose hunting trip out to Missouri this next September. We have never been out there and would like some guidance as to where is a good general area to go, If we should try to get on some private land, or if we should try and find some state land to hunt. We are planning on field hunting. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!!!

early goose season in MO would be a waist unless you have access to local golf clubs

Good public ground for geese is tough to find and private ground is all leased up or farmers don't want you on there. It's not like the Dakotas, where you can get permission relatively easy. Also, it's not as easy to scout as the Dakotas, most fields are tucked off the road pretty good. This is all for western MO, I have no idea what the east side holds.

Canada geese do not migrate to southeast MO. in great numbers anymore. I have a local spot that I hunt and between 3 of us we usually kill around 40 birds a season just south of St. louis. The banded birds we do get are banded golf course geese from the STL metro area. We did not even hunt 1 day last year. I f I were you I would look at northern Illinois or centeral Iowa as thats about as far south as they come anymore to the east side of the state of MO.

Good luck
