Collared Aleutian

Postby Mallardman007 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 9:07 pm

I shot a limit of geese on New Years Eve in an hour. 1 Tule Goose, 1 Cackler, and 2 Aleutians, one with a neck collar! My first banded goose. Awesome hunt. Went out again on New Years Day and called in another flock of cacklers and trippled. Again another first! Here are a couple pics of the geese

Its a sub-species fairly rare, and I think only found in the Pacifica Flyway. They are quite a bit larger, with a longer beak. This one weighed about 8lbs. Tastes like a speck though!!
