My First Time Out

Postby Webfoot12 » Fri Oct 07, 2005 8:22 am

I'm goose hunting for the first time this weekend. I finally convinced a buddy to take me out.

I'm thinking 3" in Hevi-shot #2 will work? If I should use steel, should I use BB? Modified choke or full or improved?

What do you think?

for geese, id go with 3-1/2 inch BB or BBB steel. i personally dont like to pay the extra for heavy shot when steel will get it done.

I can't shoot 3.5". I don't mind paying for premium shells on an occasional goose hunt.

Thanks for your replies.

If decoys are encvolved you could use anything from 2.75" 2 shot to 3" T in steel. If you are just pass shooting than i would use 3" BB or BBB. No need for the priemum shells. As for chokes i use a full stell choke for everything. But you could use IC or Mod. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info fellas. I was not sure if BB's in 3" steel would be enough or not. More than likely we would have been pass shooting. As it was, we did not even get to shoot. Still fun getting outdoors with friends.
