Sausage Gravy

Postby dongotto » Tue Sep 07, 2010 4:27 pm

I'm sure many of you know how to make good sausage gravy, but wanted to pass along a very easy recipe that my grandma gave me when I went to college.

Brown 1lb of sausage. Unless it is swimming in grease leave the drippings in the skillet with the sausage. Add 1/2 cup of flour and stir it in to the meat and drippings. Once the flour is absorbed by everything add 4 cups of milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and stir from time to time until you get the thickness your after. Add salt and pepper and your done. This is a favortie around hunting camp for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Tweak it how you like, but this is a good start and easy to measure out in advance and take in small containers to the blind.
