Easy Seafood Gumbo Recipe

Postby agengo02 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 12:46 pm

Hey guys well my old lady is getting off work late tonight so I want to have a seafood gumbo ready for her. I have NEVER made a gumbo/roux in my life so I need something that even I can't screw up. I was going to cook it in a large stainless steel pot but I also have a crock pot available to use. Anybody got anything???

Thanks.

you might be able to find pre-made roux at the store. Look for "Savoy's Roux" in a jar...yellow label/red lid.
buy the light brown roux if you can. then follow this recipe:

take the shells and boil them to extract the flavor-and use that instead of water...it will taste better.

only addition that we do to seafood gumbo is adding fresh squeezed lemon juice from one lemon...it's not seafood gumbo in my house without it!
