Duck Wax

Postby kniejadlik » Mon Nov 07, 2011 7:39 pm

I am trying to locate someone who sells wax for removing the feathers. Preferably in the Denver, CO area, if not mail order. Lots of posts talking about dipping ducks in pariffin but i have been unable to locate a source of wax/paraffin.

Go to a store that sells stuff for making jelly. Gulf wax is used for that and you should be able to find some in one-pound boxes.
Grocery stores and farm supply stores is where they have it around here.
You have to ask because it's on the top shelf or bottom somewhere where you'll never think of looking.

For years my dad and I have always used bees wax for waxing out birds with excellent results. Unfortunately you do have to order it but the company I get it from ships fast and normally will send it to you prior to payment. If your interested PM me and I will get you the info.

Post up the info please! I want some too and it appears new canning methods have replaced the need for wax!

That is a great deal. $2/pound. Ten pounds will do a LOT of ducks.
