Blue bill meal??

Postby holtspur » Sat Dec 01, 2012 1:34 pm

Will blue bill taste fine as duck poppers( marinated in Italian dressing)? Or should just make em into a gumbo?

Soak em in fresh water for 2 days then marinate em in Italian dressing... The poppers should turn out good. I've done it with spoonies and ringers before... No body knew the difference

I aged some scaup, lightly salt and peppered, and cooked them in butter in a skillet; whole breasts. Better than the teal I did the same way. I suspect the aging process got out any bad taste though.

the ones I killed in Green Bay had a good flavor to them, the ones from Alabama, not so much
