Is Northern Shoveler any good? and how do you recommend cooking it?

THe same way you do any other bird. Some parts of the country claim they have a bad taste but Ive never noticed a difference. :thumbsup: :welcome:

i have eaten quite a few spoonies in my day, normally put them in a gumbo or grill them along with the rest.

They're actually from the teal family and have a very similar diet to teal. They taste fine, most days you can't taste the different between them and any other duck on the grill.
It's a fact that 70 percent of the people who purchase heavier tackle do so with the categorical I just lost a huge snook! Einstein Hairdo.The other 30 percent have either Tarpon Fever or are sporting a hand cramped into a claw from a deepwater grouper.

everybody around here swears that they taste bad but I shot one on opening day and it was fine. :thumbsup:
