parkers makes a "duck boat paint" for 40 bucks a gallon. i went to homedepot and took every drab green sample card thing and matched it to parkers duck boat paint. come to find out its gliddens exterior paint - bronzed ivy. for a price of 18.00 a gallon. thatll do your hybrid for the nest 5 years

daffy... wrote:gliddens, bronze ivy is the same color as parkers duck boat paint. exactly same color, weather they buy it from glidden or not im not sure. i just know if you painted half a board with the gliddens and half a board with parkers, you wouldnt be able to tell where one started and they other ended.
difference: parkers 39.99 vs. gliddens 17.99

but then again none of my boats are alum. so i probably did myself a favor

I believe the Styx stencil kit works this way. Starting with a dark abstract shadow design and working to a lighter reed-like or grass-like pattern. The pictures below are from the boat i recently painted and the home made stencils i used. I never did end up using the middle stencil in the picture that is not completely cut. My advice for patterns and colors is to get a piece of cheap ply wood and practice using cheap paints until you find the look you want. If anyone would like a pdf of the stencils I made i can send them so they can be traced onto whatever you want to cut for your stencils. Below is my $20 paint job.
