Called in a favor and got the motor, muffler, tax, etc..for just over 1400. I cranked it tonight and it is whisper quiet. I can't wait to get it in the water.

Looking good man, it must have had the same hole pattern for the mounting bolts and all, looks like it just dropped in.

Now we want to see some GPS speeds with the boat loaded up!

I'm hoping to do that with my rig this weekend. Gotta get some hours on it, duck season will be here soon.

Bolt hole pattern was 1/4" different. I just elongated the back holes and it dropped in. The shaft was the same size and height and all of the wires were long enough.

I still have some adjusting of the throttle linkage to do and hopefully get a few more mph out of it. I put 2 1/2" hrs on it this weekend, mostly WOT, and it performed wonderfully!! I ran everything from deep water to straight mud, tried sand but thats a negative... With 3 people, my dog, fishing gear and 12 gals of gas, it ran 17mph in shallow water

Here is a short clip from this weekend.

Excellent. Did you use the governor on the new motor?

Yes, the gov is still in it and in the video above, its not fully adjusted. I have since adjusted it and once the rain stops, I'll get on the lake and make another vid. I think it will pick up 5+ mph now.

This past weekend I took my rig down to Sparkleberry Swamp for the Duck Run and it performed flawlessly. I have over 10 hrs on the new engine and haven't had one issue nor any issues since I switched over to belt drive. If anyone has any additional questions, shoot me a PM....b/c I'm done fabricating for a while.

Over the weekend, I had some time to work on my motor. I made a new pivoting handle after my old, fixed handle, slammed into my knee when I hit a log, I put the control box behind the throttle and added my clutch switch (black one...down is neutral, up is go)
Image

I took the boat out to try the clutch but forgot to put the front two bolts on the engine. After about 5 mins of ridding, the belt walked off the lower pulley and it shredded the belt. Luckily I realized it before it was completely gone and I was able to limp back to the dock. To change the belt, I have to take the belt housing apart, so I took the opportunity to paint the frame. Getting it ready to camo.

Here is a pic of the new belt and the clutch setup done.

Here is a vid of the cluch working.

New paint on the engine cowling.

New paint on the frame....starting the camo process.

Took it out this past weekend with me, my wife and daughter, small cooler and all the necessary safety gear and it averaged 21.5mph and bumped 22mph a few times.

How many feet of 4x6" aluminum did you use? Trying to order as little as possible cause it ain't cheap.

Got the BPS crossover and my 34mm mikuni installed and it sounds awesome. Below is a short video but it doesn't do it justice.....sounds just like a Harley. I left the silencer in.

http://s274.photobucket.com/albums/jj259/wood_puzzled/?action=view&current=49C69564-C033-4097-A770-20F44AE52435-144-00000015A6813879.mp4

I also got the new case together and it works so much better than the other case. If I break a belt, I will actually be able to change it on the water. I still need to build a clutch cover.

Image

I also added three seat bases to the floor. I had them mounted to a bench made from 1" emt but after hunting out of the boat twice, it just got in the way. I think this will be ALOT better.

So I took my rig out this past weekend, trying to tune the carb. Have some problems with the carb (think I have some trash in it somewhere ) but before it started acting up, I got 25mph at just over 1/2 throttle.
I had it trimmed down pretty good, trying to keep the rpm's from going over 4100. So once i get the carb tuned correctly, I will work on setting the motor height and hopefully will be in the upper 20's in mph.

Thanks fowllife. It was a fun project. I have taken ownership of a brand new 2013 GatorTail boat and 35hp GTR engine. It is light years ahead of my last rig.
