Check out the one made by War Eagle. It probably cost a bit more than most others but if you can mount it to your boat it folds up and takes up alot less room than any other ladder Ive' seen. You do have to watch for the gullitine effect on the fingers when you are folding it up though.

The ladder folds up and only sticks out about two inches from the side of the boat when it's folded up. It has chains that go from the mounts to the frame that allow it to flip over from stowed to deployed.

How does it mount to the boat? Is it permanent, have to be removed when transporting etc? The thing looks awesome

It uses two bolts that mount in the "T" rail system but I'm certain it could be modified to be bolted on another boat without the T-rail. I actually leave it on year round most years as it barely takes up any room and I might get the dogs out for some Summer training.

Fowler,
Do you have any close up shots???
How far down in the water does the ladder go???

I'm looking to get rid of Avery (I like it it, but it does not work well on my boat....), so looking for alternatives

Thanks,

The platform is about water level but it has an extra fold down step.

If a man can weld aluminum it wouldnt' be too hard to make your own.

Check out the WaterDog Adventure Gear models. http://www.getWAG.com Lightweight, no metal-on-metal contact, corrosion-proof and float, if dropped in the water.

Wag is good. They did one for me with camo steps. Used it for two years now with no issues.

I like the Dog platform from war eagle because it can keep your dog outside of the boat which can reduce the normal risks associated with having a dog in the boat with you.

I posted this in the dog forum too on the same question, but is anyone using the one from Otter Outdoors? It looks like it's a good ladder from what I've seen.
