Beaver Hut Permanent Blind

Postby AR Dave » Thu Mar 14, 2013 12:21 am

It began as a concept, so I found pictures of Beaver Huts.

After sketching it on paper, I began to put the idea together. The deck will actually slide up and down the 4x4 post, by backing out 1 lag bolt on each post.

It was real heavy, but it floated. I had to take it a 1/4 mile to the new duck hole.

Put it in place and set the legs. Then the swamp began to dry up.

As the water receded, the plant life took over.

Then we gathered lumber, lots of lumber. The lumber yard ran short, so we gathered drift wood.

And I looked down from above and saw that it was good.
You can see our next hole to the right.

Offseason - continue clearing rest of brush behind blind and close shooting holes with beaver stick panels.
And put that other floating blind to the left of those tall Cypress Trees

  :clapping: That's an awesome setup you came up with. How long did it take to get it all together?

Well I didn't work on it constantly, I work out of town 1/2 the time. But I started about this time last year and finished the interior in about November. I could do it faster now, after learning some things along the way. A lot of that time was spent clearing brush and the trail in. BTW, I lived in Eagle River & Palmer for 20 yrs.

Oh ok. I was wondering where you were that you could fly over you build site. Makes plenty of sense now. I live in ER too.
